This sheng pu (aged Chinese green tea) is mellow and sweet with faint notes of dried fruits. It is a delicious tea that will age with you into deepening flavors.
Puerh is a controversial tea naming convention for tea as there are two types. A historically aged green tea called sheng pu and a newly crafted post fermented black tea called shou pu (also cooked tea).
This sheng pu follows the historic practice of intentionally aging green tea within prescribed conditions to cultivate different flavors to those of a typical green tea. Many argue that sheng pu is not for drinking until at least five to seven years old, when the tea starts to loose the bitter greenness of its youth. However, this is not a hard rule.
This sheng pu from Wu Liang Shan is perfectly in its prime, having been picked and processed in Spring of 2015.
