Artisan-Made Gong Fu Cha Tea Towel
Crafted through trial, refinement, and dedication, this tea towel is the result of countless iterations aimed at creating the perfect companion for gong fu cha. As devoted tea practitioners, we’ve handled our share of tea towels—some too flimsy, some not absorbent enough, others just visually distracting. So we set out to design one that finally feels just right.

Gong Fu Cha Tea Towel
Thoughtfully Absorbant
After experimenting with many fabrics, we chose a lightweight, slubbed cotton known for its unique texture and high absorbency. The slubbed fiber creates additional surface area, allowing the towel to soak up water efficiently rather than just spreading it around. To enhance this capability, we added a second layer, making the towel even more effective at keeping your tea space clean and dry.
Aesthetic Harmony
We believe every element of the tea ritual should be beautiful. That’s why we partnered with a Knoxville-based textile artist to hand-dye each towel. The result is a stunning blue-green marbled pattern, reminiscent of shadows dancing over flowing water—subtle, serene, and complementary to elegant tea ware.Ergonomic Design
Getting the size and shape just right took several rounds of trial and error. Working with another local artisan, we developed what we feel is the ideal proportion: compact enough to fit comfortably in the hand when folded, yet long and wide enough to support your tea practice when laid flat. It pairs gracefully with a range of tea boards—or can even replace one entirely, accommodating a brewing vessel, a serving pitcher, and two cups with ease.
